The State of Campeche is located on the Gulf Coast side of the
Yucatan Peninsula. It is a large area, which borders with the
Yucatan State on the North and Northeast, with Quintana Roo on
the East, and with Guatemala to the South, along with the State
of Tabasco. The entire state has a population of about 700,000.

The state capital, Campeche, is
located right on the coast, and is about two hours drive from
Merida, the beautiful regional, colonial capital of the Yucatan.
Cancun is about five hours driving time along four lane toll roads
most of the time. Ciudad del Carmen, the second largest city in
the state, is about two and one half hours drive from Campeche,
and is about one and one half hours drive from Santillana del
Mar along the coastal highway.
Driving South
from Campeche to our project, you will drive along a four lane
toll road for about 40 minutes to Champoton, the major municipality
in the area, which has a population of about 50,000. It is a friendly
town that relies on fishing and agriculture, although tourism
and new real estate developments promise to be much more important
in the future. There are excellent local supermarkets, a farmers
market for fruit and produce, and the area is famous for shrimp
and other fresh seafood, delivered daily.
Santillana del
Mar and Sea Ranch is about 12 miles past Champoton, along the
local highway that follows the coast.
